Applied Functional Medicine Certified Practitioners

raising the standard of
functional medicine training

At the School of Applied Functional Medicine (SAFM), our dedicated practitioners commit to 400+ hours of rigorous training in advanced functional medicine sciences and validated application through clinical case studies.

Through intensive study of chronic disease etiology, functional physiology, and evidence-based intervention, along with hands-on clinical practice, practitioners who achieve SAFM’s distinguished Applied Functional Medicine Certification are uniquely qualified to provide individually targeted strategies that address the multi-faceted nature of today’s complex health challenges.

The result: root-cause resolution, empowered patients, successful practices.

What It Means To Be AFMC Certified

Complete two semesters of training, a clinical skills inter-semester, and three levels of examination.
Display competence in applying functional medicine knowledge through submission of a formal patient/client case study.
Achieve certification and maintain active status of the credential via recertification every three years.

The AFMC Difference

The prestigious AFMC certification is earned through 2.5-3 years of immersive study, clinical application, and examination.

Graduates emerge with a deep knowledge of functional medicine science and application in addition to the systems thinking required to tackle complex cases and address the root-cause of disease.

It is SAFM’s relentless commitment to ongoing training and clinical application practice that makes AFMC certified practitioners sought after experts in their field. From physicians to nurse practitioners to health coaches to pharmacists, these dedicated health professionals are uniquely qualified to make an impact using functional medicine.
