I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 25 years. After managing and consulting for health clubs, teaching group fitness classes and owning a healthy cooking business, I decided to go back to school to study integrative nutrition and then applied functional medicine at SAFM. I now work with clients to help them put their diseases into remission, and live vibrant, healthy lives. With the clinical know-how that I have learned, I have built up a full practice in less than a year from graduating SAFM, all via referrals from satisfied clients and physician referrals.
Karen Ellis is studying Functional Medicine with The School of Applied Functional Medicine. She is a Certified Holistic Health Coach by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, is accredited by Columbia University Teachers College, and board certified from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from the New York Institute of Technology and is a classically trained raw and whole foods chef from Lincoln Culinary School.
Karen has been in the health and wellness industry for over 18 years. Her passion for a holistic approach to health came from her own experience after a weight loss pill caused her to have a stroke and open-heart surgery at the age of 35. With the unexpected death of her husband and the complexities of her own health issues, her well-being was paramount as a single mother of two young boys.
I was a health coach helping clients realize how brilliant their bodies are, but hungry to learn more so that I could help more profoundly. Tracy’s warmth, her depth of knowledge, the galaxy of information and well-rounded, support-filled Programs gave me what I needed. When I had an opportunity to join the Marketing team I jumped at the chance to play some small role in helping get the word out about FM and lead more practitioners to Tracy’s Programs – to go forth and do this good work!
