My passion for functional medicine was ignited by my own experience.  A video from Mark Hyman landed in my inbox by chance at a moment that I felt let down by the conventional medical system. As a breastfeeding mum, I had just refused a prescription for anti-inflammatory drugs and was determined to find a better way to heal myself from pain and (adrenal) exhaustion. The idea of root cause resolution made so much sense so I embarked on my journey of studying, exploring and healing myself.  By experiencing the powerful results of simple and safe lifestyle interventions, I started helping others improve their health. Then, the Evolution of Medicine crossed my path and I was on fire with a mission to drive this new way of medicine forward in Belgium.  SAFM has given me the clinical knowledge and confidence to answer to this higher calling as well as to serve people with more and more complex health problems.  I feel very grateful to everyone who has helped me find my purpose in life and I’m delighted to be able to pay it forward in the SAFM community.

I am truly passionate about helping people be empowered to take their health into their own hands! Having personally navigated my own chronic illness, I’m thankful for the opportunity to now guide others in their own path to better health. Likewise, I’m immensely grateful for the opportunity to be part of the SAFM team and to see people become empowered by their knowledge and learning experience here. Functional Medicine changed my life and I can only hope that I am able to share the wonders of what I was gifted with, an incredible tribe of like-minded practitioners!

I have always been intrigued with the science of how the body works and its ability to heal itself!  Being a Functional Medicine Practitioner for the past 8 years has taught me that having in-depth investigative skills and connecting with my clients on a level that allows me to really explore what is happening with them is key to teaching them to become their own health advocates. Continued education is also a priority and I am thrilled that such a wealth of information can be found here at SAFM. The school completely supports me in all aspects of my practice and I am so blessed to be a part of this organization. Always keep learning!

Having worked my way through many of my own health challenges over the years, including endometriosis, infertility, anxiety and depression, Hashimoto’s and more, much of which I self-hacked, finding extreme relief when I cleaned up my diet and my lifestyle.   I became passionate about helping others find options and relief for their own health struggles.

As a former teacher, I felt God calling me to teach in a different capacity to focus on health and wellness. After attending IIN I craved a deeper understanding of the human body and stumbled upon SAFM which, as it has for so many others, has transformed not only my understanding of the human body and its interconnectedness but also my ability to help my clients transform their own health.

I run my practice, Keeping it Real, in Eastern, PA where I also live with my husband, three children and dog. I absolutely love my SAFM community and consider them all part of my like-minded tribe of wellness advocates on a mission to change the health of our world!

I consider myself a tenured wellness coach with a specialization in holistic and functional medicine. I have been working in healthcare for close to 40 years. After attending medical school in Russia, I practiced pediatric medicine for 15 years until I immigrated to the United States, where I was a sleep study expert at Lake Forest Hospital for 23 years. After graduating from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2011, I began my wellness coaching practice and began training with the School of Applied Functional Medicine. I successfully received my AFMC certification from SAFM in 2017.

I’m thrilled to be part of the SAFM team supporting students to shift the paradigm of medicine! After years working as RN/NP; it was clear to me that the traditional “wait for a diagnosis and treat with medicine” system is suboptimal leaving patients feeling “crazy” and frustrated while symptoms were minimally addressed. Functional Medicine, however, empowers us to find the ‘why and where’ of disease and symptoms and reverse them! Its my honor to teach, inspire and motivate the ‘masses’ to heal.

I love human development, health and wellness! I became a Certified Holistic Health Coach through IIN to help others feel their best through food and lifestyle changes. Desiring a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of the body, led me to The School of Applied Functional Medicine. Stringing together clinical knowledge with practical tips I found more efficient ways to be of service. This school has validated my belief that you can heal when you get to the root cause of an issue by using functional medicine strategies. Coaching allows me to educate and inspire others on how to take control of their health. While supporting students, I feel blessed and honored to be part of this community that is full of heart-centered individuals who are changing people’s lives every day for the better.

I started SAFM way back with a small group of us curious and passionate about helping people on a deeper level. I had no science background and wanted to fill that gap in my coaching. I learned so much right away, this grew my passion… and my business. My role has changed quite a bit since I first started my business in 2010. I’ve worn multiple hats all piled on top of each, so I’ve had a chance to find out what I enjoy and what strengths I have. It turns out, I seem to have figured out how to grow a business pretty quickly, and now mentor other Functional Medicine Coaches to do the same through quarterly planning workshops! I do, continue enjoying the connection and bonding I experience working one-on-one with my clients. So with that, I’ve stepped back my coaching a little bit, but not completely, and stepped up my role as owner and visionary finding ways to make more money, with less time, and most importantly, help people reach their health goals. At, Happy Belly Health, we help busy professionals with digestion and weight management.

Having discovered the difference that food can make as I reversed my son’s ADD with diet change, I am passionate about sharing the message that we do not have to be subject to the common ailments of our time. I delight in supporting clients in their pursuit of wellness, as well as supporting students of SAFM in discovering the rich depths of functional medicine and it’s application in their practices. Each of us bring our own experience and story to the table, which enriches everyone else.

My passions involve physical fitness, ice hockey, reading, yard work and of course serving my clients. The SAFM is my 5th training experience and I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey with Tracy and the staff. One thing you will learn quickly (skilled or beginner) is that you really don’t know as much as you thought you did! Never get too comfortable in your positions and always strive to dig deep and meet your clients where they are now! I found my Niche’ in hormones and LOVING IT!

I’m one of the SAFM ‘veterans’ and I attribute my new career path to this amazing school. Mentors and friends I found here, keep me going on this exciting journey of changing how we approach personal health and wellness. I’m passionate about the latest science ‘in action’, impacting our everyday lives right now, not in 20 years. I love the interconnectedness of the body and I made it my mission to support clients and practitioners learning about those concepts.

I spent 8 years in the Navy and then became a health coach in June of 2014 and am certified as a functional medicine practitioner through SAFM. I found Tracy and SAFM doing some research into functional medicine schools. I wanted to know more, I wanted to understand the root causes of disease and how to resolve those issues for my clients. Once I found SAFM, I have not looked back, the education and knowledge I receive from Tracy is second to none!! It has helped me grow as a coach and helped me to help people reverse disease!

I have worked as a Registered Nurse in the conventional medicine world for the past two decades. I enjoyed my job but was becoming more and more disillusioned by the treatment options available to patients with chronic disease. After a wake up call regarding my own health I began my journey to wellness and found SAFM. This really changed my life as I was able to reverse my pre-diabetic state with the information I learned in the first Semester! I love being a mentor because It keeps me learning.
