Surprising Interconnectedness: Functional Medicine Insights on Complex Issues

I am so excited to share this Facebook Live with you.  At SAFM we teach our students to be both confident and highly skilled at “puzzle piecing” and finding the interconnectedness between pieces of each patient’s unique case.

In this presentation, I’ll feature some surprising root causes of downstream dysfunction / blockage / impairment in the body.

Check out this video to get some clinical pearls you can use right away.  You’ll learn:

  • The conventional go-to “solution” for weight loss creates a life-long concern
  • Kidney stones begin in the gut
  • An everyday choice on the heels of bliss can promote women’s suffering
  • The acid/alkaline fad is creating some powerful misconceptions
  • Yes, Stress is bad. But it can cause dis-ease in ways that will surprise you.
  • and much more…

Thank you very much for joining in the fun and learning!

With warmth, love, and gratitude to you for sharing your gifts with so many –

The connection of oxylates and yeast was my greatest pearl..but the client with the hydrocortizone cream blew my mind!

Don’t skip over the basics!! It’s easy to forget about asking the simple questions to really create a bigger picture of what’s going on with your client.

I am not aware of any published clinical research dealing with this connection in particular. This is a related research write-up which might interest you: https://lifechoice.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Homeopathic-Human-Growth-Hormone-for-Physiologic-and-Psychologic-Health.pdf .

I really am surprised on the gall bladder issue how a patient would not think a procedure or supplement is important to mention. I already ask detailed questions but it makes me think to ask even more detailed questions at the very beginning when taking information from a client. Thanks for the tips!

I love Tracy’s energy. She is so inspiring. I find it extremely helpful when she shares these real life examples. There are so many scenarios and interconnections that I couldn’t have made up. Sometimes you got to see it to believe it!

What inspired me most is Tracy’s amazing knowledge, insight and passion about all topics she discusses! Even though I have been following experts in the functional medical field, attending trainings, and reading blogs- I haven’t come across any practitioner who demonstrates her knowledge and pearls! She inspires me daily!!! Thanks.

Was not aware of lemon juices citrate ability to work as a preventative for oxalate. Also very interesting cases explained, especially about the exogenous cortizone application. My jaw wouldve dropped if a client told me that. 🙂

Loved the presentation. Thank you! I found the information about complications from cholecystectomy like increased liver fats so helpful. Also, remembering to ask about missing body parts. The devil is truly in the details!

The pearl I took away today among many was the cortisol case story. A lot of people fall into the trap that just because its on your skin it wont affect your entire body. This blew my mind and showed how as a practitioner you cannot jump to conclusions and you need to see the overall picture.

I really found the story about the topical cortisone cream’s effect on the adrenal glands. A fascinating example of how one must be very thorough in questioning to get to the root of the issue!

The recurring reminder to ask the basic questions was so helpful! Its so easy to get used to asking the “high level” questions and to skip over the simple stuff, when sometimes that is what is the most enlightening!

Thank you for such insightful information. I knew estrogen dominance created many unhealthy downstream problems. However, the greatest pearl I received was how much it impacted the gallbladder and even the effect when the gallbladder had already been removed. Also learned that yeast overgrowth can contribute to higher oxalate levels.

Such great reminders for keeping a beginners mind! Really interesting insight into what else could be going on with the thyroid past the actual markers along with the interconnectedness to the cortisol pattern. Always such good info – thank you SO much for doing these events:)

Wow on the interconnectedness of yeast and oxalates! I am fighting systemic yeast right now and am having a terrible problem with oxalates. BINGO! Thank you!!!

I am always most impressed with Tracy’s spirit “Keep Hope Alive” – this message is the foundation needed in all practices.
The Kidney dysfunction can begin in the gut is a Large Pearl – personally spent many years with kidney stones and never met any doctor or naturopath that ever got to the bottom of my issues.

Calcium and oxalate and absorption by the GI tract following weight loss surgery resulting in higher levels of oxalate that ending up in the urinary tract and form kidney stones was the most important pearl for me.
