Vitamin D supplementation information along with the cofactors is needed because the doctors are telling their patients to take vitamin D with calcium for their bones, no mention of the other cofactors. Also because of COVID people are told to just raise their vitamin D levels. Always great information.

Another amazing and enlightening power packed session! Thanks Tracy. I need to practice writing notes much faster 🙂 My biggest takeaway was people with Fatty liver or T2D with hyperglycemia/insulin resistance may not convert Vit D, a HORMONE, to the final form. The final conversion of Vit D to it’s final active form requires Magnesium. The acute deficiency of Magnesium leads to GI stress, cramps, Charlie Horse cramps and even anxiety. Lastly, massive doses of calcium and deficiency of of Magn and Vit K2 can calcify soft tissue increasing the chances of cardiovascular disease and can calcify the pineal gland.

This podcast was very informative making me want to learn more.
It is important not to rely on genetic testing only when considering supplementation. More than 1 snip affects methylation and there is a difference between what is genetic and what is actually happening- extremely interesting

High dose bolus Vitamin D supplements without sufficient Mag and K2 is the silent killer. It is super frustrating! I am passionate about educating patients about supplements. Staying away from pharmaceutical products to be on a laundry list of supplements is not the solution!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. This vitamin D thing really stuck with me. Many have low vit D and are prescribed Vit D. There are so many parts to it. Never put Magnesium and K2 with vit d.. this information is very enlightening. I’m hungry for more kowledge.

All was interesting, but I was fascinated with the facts regarding plants: coddled ones are less nutritious; their anti-oxidants are oxidants for us and induce our own anti-oxidant creation…love that struggling grapes make the healthiest ( and might I add, tastiest) wine!

The biggest pearl for me today is to set expectations with my patients (and with myself tbh) that we can’t address everything at once. We have to peel the layers of the onion and it is helpful to remember that there are different stages to this such as rapid relief, intervention, and maintenance phases. This is huge for me as a practitioner just starting out in FM (from allopathic medicine) as a paradigm shift and mindset shift really from wanting to get folks better like, fast! When that doesn’t actually reflect the actual goal, which for me is for people to get well and stay well, period! Thank you so much!

Some points that stood out for me were in regards to post Covid Syndrome and how after the body has dealt with a high viral load it will comandeer tryptophan to be used by the immune system which will result in decreased levels of serotonin and melatonin causing a multitude of downstream effects. I also found it interesting that in order to maximize iron absorption is should be dosed qod.

Tracy… I applaud your genius! I’m always amazed at the sheer volume of knowledge you have in that brain. I loved learning today about macrophage stealing tryptophan under heavy viral load, and how this leads to downstream symptoms of serotonin, melatonin and niacin insufficiency. HUGE!

Great live, thank you! Biggest takeaway: excess calcium can lead to calcification of tissues (and need to get that vitamin K2 in there). So important given all the women taking the giant calcium horse pills that Costco sells, and a good pearl for us to share with so many.

So much great information! I will be going back and listening again. So many take aways. The info about Fit (hormone) D and the correlation with Mg deficiency is so important. Also, the impact of Vitamin D supplementation on Calcium. So much great info on Vitamin D. Interesting facts about the iron dosing every other day , using antimicrobial herb blends, etc. I will look forward to learning more about post Covid syndrome next month.
