Top Patterns of Disease: What Functional Practitioners Are Missing Most

Hi!

Although you may already be a savvy practitioner, I am certain you will learn something new in this video about Top Patterns of Disease: What Functional Practitioners Are Missing Most. You’ll walk away with pages of notes and practical pearls you can use in your practice right away.

Here are some of the things we’ll be discussing:

  • The lower the better for the “bad stuff” – right?  Like cholesterol, liver enzymes, fasting glucose, homocysteine? Not so fast! What low and supposedly “optimal” lab values may be telling you about hidden dysfunction.
  • Don’t discard intermittent symptoms. Do you know Why they flare and recede? Do you know what interconnectedness is usually at play?
  • The revolving door of disease. There are 3 top reasons why it just keeps spinning.  You keep “treating” the functional lab results, but they just aren’t getting well!
  • Meet Jane. In exactly 10 years, she’s going to get a T2D diagnosis.  But the evidence is lurking in her labs Right Now. Do you know what to look for?
  • No, it’s not always Hashimoto’s. Contrary to common myth, it is Not the only common form of hypothyroid dysfunction. Are you looking for these other 3 patterns?
  • Post Rx mayhem. What drug-mediated dysfunctions are so common  these days that you should definitely be on the lookout for them?

Thank you very much for joining in the fun and learning!

Dear Tracy,
Thank you so much for the inspirational lectures.
They are very informative and easy to listen and understand.
The take-away for me is “sluggish thyroid- sluggish everything”.

I am a functional/holistic nutritionist. I am so accustomed to looking through the food/diet lens that I found it facinating to learn the information regarding pharmaceutical contraindications in this webinar. I was not aware that birth control pills depleted B vitamins, especially B6. The connection to liver reference ranges and the note to take reference ranges with a grain of salt was also quite interesting. I am in my late 30’s and many women in my circle are coming forward with hypothyroid concerns. I found the information you shared about the thyroid-whole body connection to be helpful and am diving into learning more about it. I am also now encouraging my network to ask for a full thyroid panel instead of the med standard TSH. It was so refreshing to hear you talk about fasting insulin joining the prevention panels. I would love to see that. The chronic sympathetic nervous system response that many Americans just live in is a major contributor to so many ailments. Thank you for sharing tips to help get the system calmed and into a parasympathetic default. This is something that I focus on with my clients. Thank you for everything and I look forward… Read more »

Hi Tracy,

as usual so many pearls of wisdom from you! What is such a great reminder every time is how you teach that the body is not broken, but that it reacts in various ways to actually protect us from bigger harm. When I explain this aspect to my clients it is always one of many eye opening moments for them.

Explaining the impact of stress and of the fight or flight modi on our digestive systems and generally our body is another pearl that we can’t hear or teach often enough

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom!

Well I was reminded about the importance to make a full Thyroid panel when you investigate a hypothyroid condition. TSH T4 T3 rev T3 TPO and Tg. The levels of the last to TPO Thyreoidperoxidas and Thyeroidglobulin is affected of antibodies if there are an autoimmune causes to the condition.

I am not sure where to write to enter the draw so here I am! I listened live as it is so much more powerful to feel the direct connection. I am currently studying with you. I am a health coach and yoga teacher for 20 years. French based between kenya and london. What o repeat to myself over and over agin since last night is “what do you feed your physiology”. What thought feed you? Thought feed more than air water food!!! Wonderful!

I was inspired by all the rich learning by our passionate teacher! A great pearl was how beta blockers impair access to melatonin.

So appreciated the discussion of stress and the effects on the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems! And the reminder that everything we do to disrupt the body’s processes can set us back on our journey to health. You have such a gift for explaining these things–thank you for sharing it!!! Hoping to do your semester program one of these days.

I am always so impressed with the wealth of information Tracy provides. I am a certified health coach and have seen in my personal health and the health of my client how stress can cause diseases. I would love to learn more about the tips you share to reduce stress.

Today”s Pearls : 3 types of Hypothyroid sluggish activity – Nutrient mediated Hypothyroid ( enzymes are made of nutrients which help T3 to T4 conversion), Stress mediated ( T4 to rT3) and poor conversion of T4 to T3 peripherally, not in the thyroid ( only 1- % T3 comes from thyroid, rest from the peripheral tissue- intestinal lining , liver and kidneys). Secondly, when we peel the onion of immune disregualtion at the center we find Toxicity the root cause! Loved today’s webinar and can’t wait to hear more of you tomorrow morning on a different topic.

A reminder to look beyond typical reference ranges for labs. These ranges reference a statistical norm which doesn’t equal healthy! Instead, we want optimal lab values for our patients. Fasting insulin and A1c should be a part of annual physical lab work. I have my annual physical coming up, so I’m going to ask my PCP for these and hopefully, she will agree. Thanks again Tracy for all of your insight and wisdom =) I am super excited to begin the fall semester at SAFM in less than a month!!!

Can’t get enough of Tracy’s pearls and passion! Loved the castle wall, body sanctity:gut chaos protection analogy. It was also very helpful to hear the birth control impact on liver enzymes/regeneration and b6 depletion. ???

Wow another great pearl packed FB live! Thank you thank you for the great information. As alway you make me think ?. I particularly enjoyed what Tracey said about Immune hyper vigilance
And how the body is aware of the presence of toxins stored in various tissues of the body contributing to low grade inflammatory dynamic. I was aware that long term use of oralbirth control pills in our female clients depleted the body of B vitamins but never realized that this would also impair the body’s ability to make liver enzymes which could result in AST & ALT falling within the reference ranges when there is actually an issue . Yikes ? thanks again ! Looking forward to starting the semester 101 program next month!

Hi Tracey,

One of the aha-moments was that ruminating thoughts contribute to an unhealthy lifestyle. When I asked my psychotherapy patients about their lifestyle most do not consider their ruminating thoughts as something that affects their health and longevity.

Thank you so much for your education, inspiration, empowerment!
