True Root Causes of Dis-Ease

Hi!

I am so excited to share this Facebook Live and THESE POWERFUL PEARLS of functional medicine with you.  At SAFM we teach our students to be both confident and highly skilled at “puzzle piecing” and finding the interconnectedness between pieces of each patient’s unique case.

In this presentation, I’ll share a few staples but also some unexpected connections which might surprise you!

One of the most important tenets of functional medicine is the focus on upstream drivers of dis-ease vs. only focusing on downstream symptom relief. While it is a fact that each patient is unique, you can indeed learn to assess, target, and resolve dysfunctions based on these common drivers. With this knowledge you will immediately begin to help client’s achieve rapid relief – they will get well, have faith in your skills and help grow your practice by word of mouth!

Although you may already be a savvy practitioner, I believe you will learn something new, that you can use right away in your practice.  Here are some of the things we’ll be discussing:

  • How amazingly few things can “go wrong” with the human body.
  • The five most common Root Causes and the three most powerful drivers.
  • Where to focus: Disease or Dis-Ease?
  • Why thyroid function matters so much more than you might think.
  • Order of operations: where to start? Key tricks of the trade.
  • Yes, disease often begins in the gut, but sometimes in ways you likely don’t expect!
  • The #1 area you want to be an expert if you have to choose and focus your learning.
  • How to inspire clients to Do something about their stress vs. just talking about it.

Thank you very much for joining in the fun and learning!

With warmth, love, and gratitude to you for sharing your gifts with so many –

    Bernadette Andersen says:

    Hi
I truely enjoyed the lecture. I agree as a health coach and certification in hormone health. I have studied in detail the 2 phases of detoxification. You very rarely see anyone understanding the importance of the phase 2. I did studied that information with a well know chinese herbalist.

Thank you for sharing you wisdom
    Bernadette

    Jeanine Toes says:

I am slightly obsessed with root cause so I particularly loved this FB live. I guess it always goes back to Hippocrates and “All disease begins in the gut”….and although it’s been 2000 years, things seem to be getting worse! I as most inspired by your talk about the gut (i can visualize the brush border!) and the effect of toxins like glyphosate (yes please do another Live on this topic!). Like many health coaches i started to dig deeper due to unexplained illnesses of loved ones (root cause: toxins!). This is such a huge issue that is not getting address and i so appreciate your sharing your knowledge. SAFM is doing a fantastic job of keeping its curriculum on the ‘pulse’ of chronic health issues that are plaguing our world. Thank you!

    Urszula Bunting says:

Very valuable information. Thank you, Tracy!

    Jen Khalaf says:

Thank you Tracy for another amazing webinar — I seriously LOVE them and learn so much. One of the new gems I learned was about the brush border enzyme damage and it’s link to SIBO. I’ve been struggling with SIBO and I haven’t heard any connection about this enzyme secretion deficit. Thank you! I hope to join you for your program one day soon.

    Lisa says:

Good reminder that elevated estrogen isn’t because the body is making tones of estrogen but perhaps due to the body having difficulty removing it from the body through the detox pathways. On another note, the gall bladder is important to the body.

    Kate says:

As a therapist discovering the world of functional medicine some of this is certainly familiar but your presentation outlined the numerous issues that bombard and potentially hinder us in the pursuit of wellness in our modern world – particularly around the issue of detoxification. One can certainly become bogged down in specific detoxification pathways rather than observing the consequences as a whole. Your overall approach and and knowledge of the integrated human (both internally and externally) is truly fascinating.

    Laura Peischl says:

Thank you for such great lecture today.
I am a health coach and holistic menopause
health practitioner and all of the subjects
discussed from stress to thyroid disfunction,
imbalance in the gut, environmental toxins as
well as xenoestrogens and chemicals in
cosmetics, are all factors that affect the
    wellbeing during menopause.

    Kim Filkins says:

Loved it all, but the skin = mouth was most fascinating.

  9. 72
    Darrell says:

I liked when you talked about phase one and phase two detox needs to see-saw and if your detox is incomplete that it will actually make things worse.

  10. 71
    Diane Rowe says:

Excellent information, will be watching again and again to apply in my practice. I love the terms used dysregulation helps patient understand that we can help to regulate their system back to optimal order!

  11. 70
    Magda says:

Dear Tracy, thank you for the very interesting presentation. The two things that I will remember the most after tonight presentation are:
    a) gallbladder is not an optional organ – that made me crying laughing 🙂 that some people think that we have organs that we do not need,
    b) do not start detox when your body is very weak, even slightly dehydrated. Not many health practitioners will take this into account.
Thank you very much once again. Looking forward to future lives.

    Dina Antosh says:

I was so glad you metioned physical stress impacting the body when people work out all the time. It’s great for cardiovascular but today people seem to be going overboard with fitness and the follow-up protein bars and protein shakes. The workout itself elevated hormones which the body has to filter and detox – followed by the chemicals of the protein supplements.

    Mary Delasantos says:

    Hi Tracey:

I learned more about diabetes from you today, but a couple of things really resonated due to my personal experiences.

    1. Doctors who are making outdated recommendations or poo-pooing newer data.
    2. Fear tactics. It was used on me in 1988 and it is infuriating that it is still happening.

Continuing education is critical for providing the best information to patients and clients.

  14. 67
    Juliana Nikolova says:

Thank you Tracy. It was a perfect overview of the root cause of dis-ease.
    Another amazing webinar.

  15. 66
    Ruth says:

As a fellow graduate of IIN, I love continuing learning from you. You are so knowledgeable. Thank you for the free information. I have used many of the pearls you have given, to help my clients. I hope some day to work with you, and am saving money to do just that. Although I have helped many clients, there are so many very sick people here, and I would love to be able to help more people.
I agree that people are becoming more frail. And yes, everyone is different . There is definitely a disconnect between the food people are eating, the stress they are dealing with, sleep hygiene , movement and the dis-ease they suffer from. Keep up the good work!

    Vanessa Sheets says:

Loved hearing you talk about detoxification and glutathione- a topic close to my heart as an entire generation of children are now diagnosed with at least 1 of 20 chronic illnesses.

  17. 64
    REBECCA says:

Great presentation, thank you! So helpful! I really appreciated you highlighting the need to detoxify properly. There’s too much hype surrounding detox programs, and there needs to be more education. I love that you emphasized that some people have digestion issues and experience difficulty absorbing the nutrients from their food for various reasons. People often blame the gut for poor absorption, but it can be due to a number of imbalances. The way you describe how there can be so many variables that effect a persons likelihood of developing, or not developing, a dis-ease was a great pearl of wisdom to keep in mind. Thank you for taking the time to share!!

    Urmila Sandhu says:

I’ve been listening to your lectures for a while now so have been introduced to the concepts you teach. What continually amazes me is your ability to articulate the information with such ease. Just listening to your explanations of the root causes of dis-ease and of health, is a healing balm for me. After many frustrating years working in the conventional medical model, trying to help people with real needs – my discovery of Functional Medicine has explained why I never felt at ease in my role as a clinician. If I’m going to continue to work in the field of health care I need to transition to FM, and SAFM is a top choice for sure. Your astounding ability to present the material in a way that is understandable and entirely exciting, inspires me completely. I hope I am able to immerse myself in the SAFM coursework.

    Rebecca Pell says:

Thanks for all this great information! I was inspired in this talk by many things you shared, but a couple highlights for me: The realization that we need to be checking fasting insulin levels much earlier). The situation you describe where people can look hypoglycemic, but actually are in a hyper-insulin state makes so much sense to me and is new! I would love to learn more about this and how the pancreas adapts to greater insulin needs.

Another inspiring aspect of your talk was about fear and pushing fear into people rather then educating and empowering them. I have seen this and it is really uninspiring.

I am currently an NP student and have been looking at FM programs. I was first told about IFM, but then learned about this school. Very curious and would love the opportunity to join the Core 101 Semester!

    Cindy Sarvai says:

The one nugget, there where so many! How it’s so much more than blood work! How the body talks to each and every cell, all being interconnected. I love your knowledge and all you share, your a walking encyclopedia!! Thank you for your passion in sharing! My plan is to attend your 101, at some point! Love learning and adding functional medicine is my goal!!
