True Root Causes of Dis-Ease

Hi!

I am so excited to share this Facebook Live and THESE POWERFUL PEARLS of functional medicine with you.  At SAFM we teach our students to be both confident and highly skilled at “puzzle piecing” and finding the interconnectedness between pieces of each patient’s unique case.

In this presentation, I’ll share a few staples but also some unexpected connections which might surprise you!

One of the most important tenets of functional medicine is the focus on upstream drivers of dis-ease vs. only focusing on downstream symptom relief. While it is a fact that each patient is unique, you can indeed learn to assess, target, and resolve dysfunctions based on these common drivers. With this knowledge you will immediately begin to help client’s achieve rapid relief – they will get well, have faith in your skills and help grow your practice by word of mouth!

Although you may already be a savvy practitioner, I believe you will learn something new, that you can use right away in your practice.  Here are some of the things we’ll be discussing:

  • How amazingly few things can “go wrong” with the human body.
  • The five most common Root Causes and the three most powerful drivers.
  • Where to focus: Disease or Dis-Ease?
  • Why thyroid function matters so much more than you might think.
  • Order of operations: where to start? Key tricks of the trade.
  • Yes, disease often begins in the gut, but sometimes in ways you likely don’t expect!
  • The #1 area you want to be an expert if you have to choose and focus your learning.
  • How to inspire clients to Do something about their stress vs. just talking about it.

Thank you very much for joining in the fun and learning!

With warmth, love, and gratitude to you for sharing your gifts with so many –

It’s not new to me but I loved hearing the statement that one shouldn’t put anything on their body they wouldn’t put in your mouth.

I always enjoy your direct and thorough approach…
    Thank you

What an information-packed Live event that was!! The importance of doing a balanced detox really hit home with me today. I am new to the health coaching field and have been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. Like many, my personal experience with illness has lead me to this path and I hope to help others with their auto-immune “challenges” too! Thank you for sharing with us today, Tracy!

So many wonderful pearls! Loved, the skin is a giant mouth, POPS persistent organic pollutants, we are what we absorb, microbes and hormones drive the body, optional body parts!

    Thelma says:

I like what you said that you should not be putting anything on our skin that we would not eat. I have never thought of it that way. I love that analogy.

I am always amazed at the depth and breadth of knowledge Tracy has and shares with this community. I learn so much just from these FB live sessions. I like to say that the work I do as an Integrative Health and Nutrition Coach is to help clients bridge the gap between conventional medicine and functional medicine. This is exactly where SAFM provides that “filler” for that gap.

Another great video sharing your “powerful pearls of functional medicine”! I especially appreciated the talk on hormones and how important it is to look at hormonal clearance and making sure our detox pathways are not blocked to support proper hormonal balance.

Great presentation!! I have been following the valiant efforts by some to get functional medicine covered by insurance! It really validates the principles of this approach that we know is the future of medicine! Thanks for being a pioneer! Also always love discussions of the impact of the thyroid on just about every area of health and did-ease. Thanks Tracy!

    Susan Green says:

    Thanks for another great lecture!

An important pearl is that the sources chronic, excessive and prolonged stress (inside our heads, in the environment, in our food, on our bodies, etc.) combined with the lack of supportive diet and lifestyle is a perfect storm. People need to know that they cannot thrive and sustain like this.

Also love what you said about the attachment to ones stress. I used to be that person until I realized that all my exercise and clean eating wasn’t enough and stress was going to take me down. I learned how to make a choice about owning that stress (and address it with how I talk to myself, yoga, meditation, etc. Culturally, we take on stress like a badge. So damaging!

    This live was amazing!!!
    Love love loved it!!!
I sustained a whiplash injury from a practitioner a few years ago and the part about how stress impacts insulin resistance is huge for me personally and clinically!!
    Also fasting insulin!!
I’m an RN and L.Ac and FM bridges the gap so beautifully!! I can’t wait to fully integrate FM into my practice one day!
Stay on your soapbox!! Everything you said today was brilliant and I hope more and more practitioners take the time to learn FM, it’s truly the medicine of the future.
Thank you so much for doing these and sharing so much!!

Thank you so much for sharing such rich and vital information. Tracey, you bring it all to life! I am familiar with villi but learned the new term today – brush lining. I am happy to listen to you Tracy.
I am an integrative nutrition student at IIN.
I would like to advance my career by learning more about functional medicine and would be able to help people living better healthy life style. So my question is what is the difference between SAFM, and other functional medicine coaching schools?
    Thank you.

    Kitzie Galbraith says:

I was so happy to hear that someone is pursuing health insurance coverage for alternative medicine.

  19. 102
    Mary says:

Whenever I listen to you- I am in awe of your knowledge and passion. You always remind me that stress and chronically elevated stress hormones have as much to do with dis-ease as diet. I think so many of us as health coaches- focuses too much on food primarily and don’t get the strong sympathetic dominance connection to our clients symptoms. I would love to explore this area more in depth and gain a deeper understanding about how stress and past trauma keep so many of us sick and stuck. Thank you for this insight and all you teach!

    Kaliko Amona says:

SO many pearls here…. I’m thankful for your reminder of the importance of thyroid screening because it impacts so many other systems downstream and is just so common. Thank you for your generosity–I love your FB talks and hope to join your program one day.
