Here is some of what we covered:

I’ve had a lot of “gut training” over the years but not one doc tied things together as you always do. As an Acupuncturist, we are always looking at the patterns/symptoms and the interconnectedness of how they relate to organs via the Five Elements. The point that you made about the increased cholesterol in bile leading to poor GB emptying, coupled with a hypothyroid state, was an eye opener. I’ve never heard this before!
I always enjoy Tracy’s brilliance. What a fabulous intellect. I like to be reminded by her to consider the mouth to be part of the gut and how mouth wash or chewing gum can be a powerful thing in promoting digestive dysfunctions
Thank you for the wonderful presentation. I did not realize that an “estrogen dominant” state could cause you to concentrate more cholesterol in the bile leading to slowed bile flow and therefore maldigestion and constipation. Coupled with subclinical hypothyroidism, you’ve got the perfect storm! So many women, especially perimenopausal women like myself have both low progesterone and subclinical hypothyroidism and are unaware of either condition.
One of todays important takeaways was how Metformin impacts B12!
Knowing how important B12 is for neurological health, it is tragic that the clinical ranges are already far below that of the functional range and therefore likely to be missed by the medical profession.
Sadly with the increase in Dementia and Parkinson Disease this could be something we could identify and support clients with whom have be prescribed metformin whilst at the same time supporting them with their metabolic health.
Love the connections of bile flow being affected by hypothyroid and xenoestrogens!
Thank you so much for your Pearl that bile is antimicrobials. What natural power.
I hopped on in the middle! but the pearl I got was that for people on Keto, they may not make enough Short Chain Fatty acids with such a restricted diet. Bingo! Now I see what may be happening when people struggle with gut difficulties on Keto. (myself included when I did try it). Brilliant!
Practitioner clarification questions are welcome! Please do not post personal case inquiries.
This was a big eye opener to me. I am just starting out on my practice and this joined up so many dots for me both personally and for my clients. I’m keen to learn more. Thank you Tracy. Loads of pearls as always.
