How long do practitioners remain students at SAFM?
You decide! Enrollment is for 12 months minimum. Many remain 5+ years. Curriculum includes both self-paced and time-based elements. Apply and hone skills along the way in Your practice. Typically, students study 8-12 hrs/week toward certification. Continuous learning and practice support can be career-long.
What is the tuition?

Functional Medicine Program Components
- Anchoring Essentials Courses. Learn the fundamentals of functional medicine in a whole new way and be immersed in SAFM’s approach to root cause resolution.
- Deep Dive Clinical Courses. Embrace these detailed dives into the unique function and interconnection of major body systems and the specific dynamics that create health vs. disease (and how to resolve the imbalances that create the latter).
- Experiential Lab Testing. Explore course-aligned blood chemistry and functional medicine testing as a valuable input to a patient/client wellness plan.
- Real-life, Complex Case Practice. Learn from many actual examples of new client intake, enrollment, assessment, and intervention planning (Puzzle Piecing Cases). Practice applying your applied clinical savvy in real-time as Tracy Harrison coaches one of your peers through the detailed dynamics of a case (not a superficial overview but a rich 2+ hour exploration) in dozens of our Open Coaching Calls.
