Thank you for sharing these fb lives each month! I learn so much from you and hope to take your certification course at some point. My 3 biggest takeaways today were: 1) That a lot can be learned from common lab tests. I want to learn more about this. 2) That beta blockers deplete CoQ10 and melatonin. 3) That it is essential to address negetive self talk which activates the sympathetic nervous system state. We need to teach patients to live more in the parasympathetic state for them to heal.
As always I love how you approach wellness and focusing on the individual instead of a “standard of care” across the board. Getting mindful about listening to the patient instead of data is the power behind functional medicine and this really helps hit that home! Thank you so much.
Great talk on clinical misconceptions! You busted several
Myths for me. I enjoyed listening to all the ways routine labs can gleam hidden jewels of information about our patients health through a functional medicine lens. I also appreciated the straight talk about not relying to heavy on functional medicine labs and expecting them to hold the answers. Finally, it was reassuring to hear you say you don’t have to go alone. There is more than one way to practice beyond opening a solo practice. Thank you for the great info!
I truly enjoyed this FB Live on limiting beliefs – not only for the points that validated my experience (the loneliness one can experience practicing this type of medicine, that there are many thresholds for entry into this practice that are not necessarily as an entrepreneur, wnl labwork is not necessarily wnl, and that medications are not necessarily evil) but for the bon mots (fine is the other f-word!).
I took notes and had many starred items that were things I either needed to be reminded of or were new information; however, the most impactful part of this presentation for me was that healing will not take place unless we can work on the patient’s sympathetic activation. The examples Tracy gives to illustrate her points are brilliant and will help me to better explain them to the patient. I enjoy her speaking style – concise yet elegant.
Practitioner clarification questions are welcome! Please do not post personal case inquiries.
Wow, I am always blown away with the level of depth that Tracy shares, but this one was fantastic to bring all of those limiting beliefs to the forefront. The biggest one for me was the revolving door of stool tests and how it can be so easy to revert to those as standard, while potentially missing some key points in front of our eyes. I am not a student of SAFM, but really hope to be in the near future, as although I am trained Tracy’s teaching takes things to another level – thank you so much again for another great session you have shared.
