Yeast can live off of ketones too! In recommending a lower-carbohydrate diet (along with antifungals, etc.) for your clients with yeast/fungal overgrowth, be careful not to recommend a diet that is *too* low-carb. Yeast have mitochondria which means (just like us) they can use ketones for food. So I do recommend getting rid of all grain flours and overt sweeteners and alcohol. But be sure to keep in some starchy veggies (e.g. butternut squash), some fruit, and perhaps a serving here and there of quinoa or brown rice. As with most things in the body, Balance is key to re-establishing microbial balance in the gut.
