    Brenda says:

I know this was already said that group sessions have been proven to be more effective than one on one coaching, it’s seems like people are looking for collaboration as health professionals

  2. 19
    Amanda Sylvie says:

As a functional dietitian, I have struggled with being overwhelmed with the work of 1:1 patients, so when Tracy mentioned the group having more power than a practitioner alone in prompting and sustaining behavior change, it made a big impression on me regarding how I could better serve my patients by utilizing a group setting.

So many great pearls in this presentation
My take home is the value of applying functional medicine in a managed care
setting, but I love Tracy’s point of needing FM generalists to apply those fundamental basic lifestyle changes
As a provider at an FQHC with Medicare and Medicaid patients this adds a huge leverage and is a valuable adjunct to primary care

  4. 17
    Lori Lamb says:

I have been leaning towards group programs instead of individual and had that affirmed today!

  5. 16
    Mileta K says:

I learned that group sessions are more effective than individual sessions.

  6. 15

My favorite pearl heard is knowing that we do not have to go through this FM learning journey on our own because the School of Applied Functional Medicine has all of the resources (groups, peers, knowledgeable instructors, etc) that we need. Next favorite Pearl is how the Cleveland Clinic proved that FM is not only more effective than conventional medicine for primary and preventive care, but group care is more effective than individual care.

  7. 14
    Jen Gifford says:

So much valuable info today that completely aligned with my current clinical practice! We cannot do everything alone!! We try, but its overwhelming and we need to take a look before we burn ourselves out. Treat people in a group setting to be more efficient! People will encourage each other and more cost effective for the patient.
Thank you Tracey for a wonderful session tonight!

  8. 13
    Aneela Kamran says:

Making your successful client the leader for other clients having similar issues can be a win win for both the practitioner and the client … a big takeaway.

  9. 12
    Hillary Fox says:

I am always inspired by Tracey’s lives!

I’ve been working on a group program and more inspired than ever to get started.
“Lifestyle intervention in group setting 50% more effective than metformin” -Just wow.
Knowledge and information not enough, Power of community, efficiency to reach numbers and ease!!

Thank you again so much for your generosity-

  10. 11
    Durrell Handwerger says:

The most important takeaway for me is when Tracy discussed affecting groups of people and having more of an impact with less burnout. And its important to remember you don’t have to do this alone as a lone practitioner.

  11. 10
    Melissa Lee says:

The one thing that struck me from Tracy’s video is the fact that we are currently standing on the forefathers of functional medicine back in the day. It is important for us to make sure the term ‘functional medicine’ does not equate to expensive labs only, but to strive and demonstrate the power of functional medicine – empowerment, personalized treatment, looking at who the person is.

  12. 9
    Quentin Caswell says:

I particularly found that what resonates most with me as how Functional Medicine does not have to my limited only to those who can afford expensive functional tests, but how a savvy practitioner can use traditional conventional labs to make lasting impacts in the lives of all patients, even those with limited incom. Also the use of group sessions as a excellent method for educating patients and getting them to be active participants in their own health. Thank you again

  13. 8
    Barbara Paolone says:

If we don’t utilize group visits, we give up opportunities for more efficiency and effectiveness in our practices. Sharing principles among a group, instead of each client on an individual basis and harnessing the power of community and sharing among the group is very effective at improving outcomes.

  14. 7
    Katie Hachuela says:

I want to thank you Tracy so much for the inspiration, knowledge, and passion you deliver to all of us wanting to change healthcare and people’s lives. One particularly powerful pearl for me was that it is not necessary to leave everything behind to practice functional medicine. I have been quite overwhelmed with this thought on how to create a private practice that is cash pay and how to do everything that goes along with this. I am in the process of implementing group visits in managed care GI practice and I am excited about this. I am grateful for the education I have received from SAFM that goes beyond functional medicine concepts. THANK YOU!

  15. 6
    Daniela Lafond says:

It was good to see that there are reimbursable group teachings that are available to traditional practitioners. This will help more people have access to functional medicine.

    Also the power of groups

    Candace Ireland says:

I am currently in Nurse Practitioner school. I was really inspired by the live session tonight. My classes have me feeling like I just want to leave healthcare, but I do feel a calling. I want to be a part of the solution, not just a prescriber.

  19. 2
    Cari Caraway says:

Learning how to have the impact that I desire for my patients. I am so interested in diversifying my “future” program so that we can maximize learning opportunities for clients while maximizing my time and efforts. I am excited to learn more and more about groups. Community with social proof and validation are so important. It is definitely a missing link in my current practice. I love the tip of recording yourself to repurpose your educational tips!

    Karen Digby says:

I loved learning that group coaching can raise revenue, be cost effective, efficient, around but teamwork is key!
