Autoimmune Dis-ease: Myths and Truths

Hi!

I am so excited to share this Facebook Live and THESE POWERFUL PEARLS of functional medicine with you.  At SAFM we teach our students to be both confident and highly skilled at “puzzle piecing” and finding the interconnectedness between pieces of each patient’s unique case.

In this presentation, I’ll share a few staples but also some unexpected connections which might surprise you!

This family of diseases is very often triggered and exacerbated by chronic inflammation, especially by what is generated in the gut. Our immune system can end up in a chronic, misguided “alarm” state in response to something we are carrying around in our bodies. Find out about common triggers, and what other factors can be playing a role…

Although you may already be a savvy practitioner, I believe you will learn something new, that you can use right away in your practice.  Here are some of the things we’ll be discussing:

  • THE common threads holding autoimmune diseases together
  • Why a comprehensive stool test may Not be a good idea
  • Vitamin D: too much of a good thing?
  • Yes, FOOD is everything. And for more reasons than you may realize!
  • What happens in the gut doesn’t stay in the gut
  • The biochemical connection of Stress (can you explain it?)
  • The ongoing saga of missing body parts
  • Why we need to Stop saying that the body is attacking itself!

Thank you very much for joining in the fun and learning!

With warmth, love, and gratitude to you for sharing your gifts with so many –

Great talk! I was really inspired by the relationship between high levels of vitamin D and immune system. Thank you!

Conclusion of Tracy’s talk with analogy of four-legged stool representing perfect storm for autoimmune disease…
One leg is genetic predisposition, another leg is enhanced intestinal permeability, a third is environmental triggers, and lastly, a weaker immune system has to be present.

Thank you for the information! I was most surprised by the fact that excess Vitamin D can result in immune response suppression..

I was not able to watch it all so I will be going back. I have a client who fits so much of what you covered. She has been so “Talked into” her Western Diagnoses that my first challenge to her this week is to let go of everything she has been told over the last ten years. From there, I may even have her watch this.
Thanks so much for your time today!!!!

My Big Aha about today’s call was that too much vitamin D can suppress Immunity. Wow this was a bog one for me.
I have been listening to allot of podcasts and functional medicine docs in the past three years and this is the first time I hear anyone say anything about Too much vitamin D.

Comment for the drawing for Deep Dive Clinical Course
It is inspiring and a great reminder to share with my clients that just because they have an autoimmune condition or multiple ones even, it doesn’t mean the end of the world and it doesn’t mean their bodies are incapable of recovery. It is terribly frustrating that so many with autoimmune conditions are being treated by their doctors with only medication and that is all they are being told it can be managed. There are so many that are suffering terribly and are so caught up in their only hope being taking a medication that may be able to help and that may not have horrible side effects. There is incredible hope for those with autoimmune condition(s) and we need to be sure they know that.

Magnesium, Copper, Zinc, Iron and others – you mentioned so quickly and briefly. It feels like these are fundamental pieces of the health puzzle and I want to know more.

Loved this! Thank you 🙂
My daughter was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at age 11. She is 18 now. She has been gluten-free and dairy free for the last 7 years. She still has high antibodies. I am curious about other things I can go to help her get back to balance. xo

what inspired me the most i my learning-high levels of vitamin d are immunosuppressants! this can bring symptom relief but more is not better. it needs to be in balance. i just love all the connections that tracey makes to so many symptoms and issues throughout the body. can’t wait to learn more from you! thanks

Pearl from today’s FB live: Elevated estrogen increases ceruloplasmin and binds copper driving more copper retention. This is HUGE for those in the know. Can affect so much with Zn/Cu balance and in healing and emotions. Boom. Great tips. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks once again for today’s Truths! One comment is not possible! Vitamin D truths so few people are being told – Zinc/Copper balance truth – Oh and the gallbladder that so many are missing and never told what to expect after the removal. As always a real joy to listen to you Tracy, thank you.

As a conventionally trained Family Nurse Practitioner, I have become disheartened with the conventional approach to medicine. Time and time again I have been following the standard of care which focuses more on adding more and more medications, causing polypharmacy, and less and less on lifestyle and diet management to manage chronic “Dis-Ease”. I have always hoped to focus my clinical practice on wellness and disease prevention. I would love if you selected me for an opportunity to learn more and am seriously hoping I can register for the program at your next enrollment opportunity.
Thank you so much for offering this wonderful opportunity.
Blessings in all you do,

Great session! SO many helpful points but always helpful to be reminded to stop confusing our immune system and ways to strengthen it.

It’s amazing to get the auto-immune myth revealed. Western medicine thinks its just something you are STUCK with and no solution for. Yet its amazing to know that the digestive system and what we eat and are exposed to are what impact our immune system leading to auto-immune AND it can be reversed!
