Such powerful information shared, it’s always hard for me to pick one point to highlight. Regarding Trauma as a toxin, this idea has certainly become an important
part of my practice. I truly believe that our cells and mitochondria respond to stress and trauma, activating our genes causing dis-ease. The subconscious mind can have
a powerful effect on our wellness and healing.

Biggest takeaway which I also have experience of is your sharing of childhood trauma and/or abuse which is the root cause of not sustaining wellness beyond few months. Thank you for sharing the deep tight connection of physical, mental and emotional well being how they have to worked on simultaneously to achieve true long lasting healthy results.

Another pearl i learnt from you today is why people fall sick when they vacation. The reason being that is the only time body is in para sympathetic mode of “rest” and body with its innate intelligence gets to work at getting rid of infections.

Wow, great Pearls today! What stood out for me, and something I had never heard before, was on the topic of childhood trauma. I find it so fascinating and amazing that someone is able to draw an image of something they experienced as a child, yet can’t explain verbally. I definitely want to learn more about this to be able to incorporate an understanding of childhood trauma in my coaching. How it relates to auto-immune disease is also a topic I want to dive into. Another powerful teaching, thank you Tracy!

Loved your insights around childhood trauma. I find, aside from the more obvious trauma experiences, there is a lot of *hidden* trauma, all to do with our perception and experience vs the event itself. Both very valid and very significant.

And the Thyroid. If I could pick one area of health to change the conventional medical model’s treatment, this would be it! And because it is so much more prevalent in women, the dismissal of the symptoms from doctors is maddening.

Many pearls as usual! Thank you! It makes perfect sense that immune function (either sub-optimal or hypervigilant) would play into repeated gut imbalance, now that you mention it. But I wouldn’t have necessarily gone there on my own. That’s definitely one of the first places to look!

I am extremely interested in how you see hypothyroidism or hyper as far more than a simple gland that is not working enough or working too much according to the symptoms. As an EMDR Practitioner and also using EFT and CBT to treat women who have been through trauma, Mai my domestic violence ( I suffered from PTSD as a result of having been through it myself almost 20 years ago) I was shocked to hear the statistics you mentioned regarding those in the USA who have been subjected to sexual abuse. I would absolutely love to know what you would say the top three health issues you see presenting in those who have been through such trauma as a child. I know this is a very general question, but I am just wondering if there are three illnesses you see cropping up more than others.
I know my own health wasn’t doing too well until I started looking into where in the body trauma is stored and how to go about releasing it. Thank you so very much for such an inspirational session this evening ( I am U.K. Based) I can’t wait for the next one, whenever that may be.

I enjoyed the review of T4-T3 Thyroid and how Thyroid function is dependent on liver health. Just got new labs from a client who’s Free T3 and Free T4 are sub-optimal and all liver markers are trending up. But TSH is normal. Great points for discussion.

But most importantly, the discussion surrounding long lasting effects of childhood trauma, abuse and how it has a deep long lasting effect on our nervous system was poignant. Being able to explain how this can be toxic to cells won’t help. The need for a coach to create a safe environment and nurturing relationship before the client can heal speaks volumes to root causes. I plan to use pictures and visionary therapy work with clients to help them heal.

My takeaways are the way you connected all the possible issues with the immune system, subclinical hypothyroidism, stress management, diet, nutritional imbalances with the optimal microbial balance.
We need not to leave a stone unturned and looked at to fully keep the patient healthy; which is also aligned with the end of your talk and childhood trauma and the need to look further at the emotional health of the person to fully support their healing and keep them healthy.

It blows my mind to think about how hard a person can work to conquer their disease but if they continue to burn the candle at both ends they may never heal. I can easily comment on so many aspects of this valuable presentation, but the one that most stood out for me, beyond the clinical knowledge that we gain as SAFM students, is the importance of understanding the role that trauma plays in the lives of our clients, how this impacts their health (I loved the pearl on weight gain related to trauma) and how this can hold them back from not only getting well, but also STAYING WELL. I LOVED the examples of the questions you provided, such as “did they feel SAFE in their childhood?” and “who was the person/people you felt safe with”. It was a great reminder to ask questions and then be fully present and listen. The beauty of the coaching relationship!!!

The most striking was to always keep looking upstream as the root cause may be far and distant, IN THE BODY and IN TIME. The Mind Body Connection and the thoughts, memories, emotions and beliefs that need to be taken into consideration.
