Autoimmune Dis-ease: Myths and Truths

Hi!

I am so excited to share this Facebook Live and THESE POWERFUL PEARLS of functional medicine with you.  At SAFM we teach our students to be both confident and highly skilled at “puzzle piecing” and finding the interconnectedness between pieces of each patient’s unique case.

In this presentation, I’ll share a few staples but also some unexpected connections which might surprise you!

This family of diseases is very often triggered and exacerbated by chronic inflammation, especially by what is generated in the gut. Our immune system can end up in a chronic, misguided “alarm” state in response to something we are carrying around in our bodies. Find out about common triggers, and what other factors can be playing a role…

Although you may already be a savvy practitioner, I believe you will learn something new, that you can use right away in your practice.  Here are some of the things we’ll be discussing:

  • THE common threads holding autoimmune diseases together
  • Why a comprehensive stool test may Not be a good idea
  • Vitamin D: too much of a good thing?
  • Yes, FOOD is everything. And for more reasons than you may realize!
  • What happens in the gut doesn’t stay in the gut
  • The biochemical connection of Stress (can you explain it?)
  • The ongoing saga of missing body parts
  • Why we need to Stop saying that the body is attacking itself!

Thank you very much for joining in the fun and learning!

With warmth, love, and gratitude to you for sharing your gifts with so many –

Hi Tracy, Thanks for his amazing summary and perspective on autoimmune complexities
. I love how you take broad and complex issues and highlight so many pearls that point to root causes and bichemicak connections. ‘In the body, fences make good neighbours’ – I laughed out loud! It’s true! We need our barriers to maintain our healthy internal relationships! Your passion shines through! ✨

I am so grateful for all of these Facebook live lessons Tracy does – I always learn so much! I loved Tracy’s comment that ‘your skin is a giant mouth -if you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it in your skin’! Thank you so much for your amazing pearls of wisdom!

    Angelica Gholston says:

Wow! Your Facebook Live presentation was amazing. I stumbled on your video in a FB group I’m in, and when I saw “autoimmune diseases” I had to check it out. And, I am so glad that I did. I’m a new graduate nurse practitioner, and I have a great interest in Rheumatology; this video put a lot of things into perspective, even things we already know. For example, “don’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat.” You put it into words that makes complete sense as to why we shouldn’t.

Also, lots of us are well aware that “we are what we eat,” but unfortunately we fail to put in the effort to maintain a healthy gut. I love how you reiterated and stressed on the importance of a healthy gut as it is related to what we eat and ingest, the things we put on our skin, stress and different environmental factors. The entire lecture was great from triage meds to reduce inflammation in autoimmune flares to pinpointing the actual culprit. Thanks so much for the great learning experience!

I am always amazed by the subtleties of how we describe our conditions and how we impair our own healing by our words and thoughts. The mind is so powerful to aid or derail our healing. Our bodies are amazing and only doing what they need to do to help us survive one more day.

I like to be as informed as possible while working with my latest doctor of functional medicine to tie any missing pieces together in an effort to halt the dis-ease in my body. Just today received my blood work which shows an abnormally high copper! Looking forward to my next visit to see how to address this. I try SO hard to feed my body the healthiest foods possible and still have health issues. Hoping this latest doctor can help me! Health has been my passion for the last decade and Tracy makes it SO interesting! She’s awesome! Since my gut is my main issue, I would LOVE to be a part of your program!

Great myth busting lecture on autoimmune conditions! Absolutely agree that many people think that this “just happens” to them. Also, I had never thought about the bike as being antimictobial, but makes perfect sense!

    Stephanie says:

Such a great presentation!! I’ve learned high levels of vitamin d can can actually surprise the immune system! Also, it’s always a nice reminder to hear that our skin is our biggest organ and what we put on our skin every single day MATTERS! I loved the comparison to a mouth. I think most people, myself include, have always focused so much on just being mindful of what they’re eating. Especially working with patients as a Dietitian. I’ve learned however the importance of this and have switched nearly everyone one of my everyday cleaning, shower, & beauty products to those that are all natural & free of toxins and parabens 🙂

    Michelle S says:

Great information. Have seen significant improvements in myself/family as well as clients when removing gluten from diet…weight loss, decreased joint pain, decreased inflammation markers.

Love listening and learning from you.
