True Root Causes of Dis-Ease

Hi!

I am so excited to share this Facebook Live and THESE POWERFUL PEARLS of functional medicine with you.  At SAFM we teach our students to be both confident and highly skilled at “puzzle piecing” and finding the interconnectedness between pieces of each patient’s unique case.

In this presentation, I’ll share a few staples but also some unexpected connections which might surprise you!

One of the most important tenets of functional medicine is the focus on upstream drivers of dis-ease vs. only focusing on downstream symptom relief. While it is a fact that each patient is unique, you can indeed learn to assess, target, and resolve dysfunctions based on these common drivers. With this knowledge you will immediately begin to help client’s achieve rapid relief – they will get well, have faith in your skills and help grow your practice by word of mouth!

Although you may already be a savvy practitioner, I believe you will learn something new, that you can use right away in your practice.  Here are some of the things we’ll be discussing:

  • How amazingly few things can “go wrong” with the human body.
  • The five most common Root Causes and the three most powerful drivers.
  • Where to focus: Disease or Dis-Ease?
  • Why thyroid function matters so much more than you might think.
  • Order of operations: where to start? Key tricks of the trade.
  • Yes, disease often begins in the gut, but sometimes in ways you likely don’t expect!
  • The #1 area you want to be an expert if you have to choose and focus your learning.
  • How to inspire clients to Do something about their stress vs. just talking about it.

Thank you very much for joining in the fun and learning!

With warmth, love, and gratitude to you for sharing your gifts with so many –

Touche Tracy. this one is again another pearl in your wisdom and ability to share. My big aha’s were that Dis ease can stem from going to the gym.As a 51 year old male who hits the gym on a regular bases I never really thought much about that till you mentioned it and it smacked me between the eyes as I have been dealing with some low grade inflamation that I could not figure out so I am going to take a few days off the gym and head out to nature. The second Aha was that issues can occure when blood sugar goed DOWN. this had never really occurred to me but makes a ton of sense.

Again many thanks to you and your team for keeping the cobwebs out of my brain. lol

Agree it is time for a new ARM of MEDICINE that is covered by insurance. To heal my children I have sought holistic approaches with success after receiving treatment from standard medicine with no results. Unfortunately the medical care that did not impact overall health was covered and the treatment from a holistic practitioner healed them and I paid for it out of pocket since not recognized by insurance company.

When it comes to stress I work with my clients every week educating on stress in all aspects of their lives and teach strategies and signs and symptoms of stress and how it is affecting their health and wellbeing.

Love all your info.

Thank you for what you bring to all of us.

Wow. Thanks so much for the great information. I am a beginner Health Coach and found everything fascinating. I am grateful for your enthusiasm and passion for health care. Two things that caught my attention and were aha moments are: The skin is a giant mouth and we shouldn’t put anything on our skin that we wouldn’t eat. I think I am going to have a massive clean out the bathroom shelves this weekend. The other thing that really caught my attention was the connection that the hormones have with the microbes in our body. That the hormones react to the microbes in our body…which are reacting to what we are doing to our body via lifestyle and diet. All fascinating information. I am looking forward to learning more.

What I find endlessly fascinating that I feel everyone needs to be aware of is the long time frame from when our bodies first start suffering on a cellular level until we start noticing/feeling symptoms. Thank you for the wonderful session. I could listen to you speak for hours and hours! I can’t tell you how happy I am that you’re also doing things to try to shift how Americans deal with health insurance. It’s a sad situation. Thanks for all you’ve done and I look forward to learning more from you!

I love how you are able to speak to your audience, with the intention of having each one of us own our bodies, appreciating what the bodies are and are not capable of performing. I appreciate the respect you have in describing the position that Functional Medication has in the Conventional Medicine world. I am truly fascinated with your wealth of knowledge, and ability to interact with the audience. I can only imagine how fantastic your clients feel having you to guide them to health and in such an inspirational way! Somehow, I’ve not found how I can offer people a reason to work with me.

All dis-ease begins in the gut. I truly believe this is true also and would love to take your core semester gut course to learn even more. Love how you present the information and make it understandable!

I loved the entire Facebook live with Tracy – thank you! What I loved most was the comment she said she uses with clients that gets a big reaction: “If you wouldn’t ingest it, don’t put it on your skin” – great advice for clients!

Thank you for this lecture! I always get so much information that I can use in my practice today. Planning on joining you in September. My favorite part…your explanation of the gut. I am new to this field, but so far, every client I work with….we start with the gut. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us!

I am so glad you talked about the fasting insulin level. It is something I am just learning about. And the connection between toxicity and thyroid / insulin issues is also something I would like to learn more about. Thank you!!

All Dis-eases start in the gut, everything is interconnected.

This has to be one of my favorite lectures yet! Thank you, Tracie. Love your explanation of stress. I am going to be using this with two of my current clients. Having the language to explain this subject is something that I have trouble with. Thank you for the words!

Love the gut part!!! With every client so far, we start with the gut. Thank you for your indepth explanation! Interconnectedness!!!! Thank you so much!

OH! Thank you so much for addressing the importance of supporting clients/patients by teaching them about how intelligent, powerful (and forgiving) the human body is. It is so liberating for people when they discover that their symptoms are not the body’s way of punishing us, but of having an important discussion with us. I am so glad that you talk about this concept because it’s so empowering and vital to paving the path to optimal health.

I am a Certified Health Coach, Licensed Massage Therapist and Naturopathic Medical Assistant/Clinic Coach. It means the world that SAFM is so present in the healthcare field for those of us who absolutely require up-to-date information to pass along to patients/clients. Education and support are the missing links of the modern healthcare system, so it’s so wonderful to learn from those who are passionate about empowering people to understand how hard-working and resilient their body’s are!

Hi Tracy and Team! I think that your way breaking down complex information in a very eloquent and articulate way is so inspiring. I love how you speak about the body and its healing powers and your frankness when it comes to just calling people out on actually believing that disease just happens overnight. You spoke about all of the amazing systems in the bodies and how there are so many different variables at play at any given time. We are all so different and one person can take on stress, medications, toxicity etc in the body completely different than another. We need a health care system that is worth actually paying for, I get so upset when my clients tell me that they go to their doctors and they put them on some drug that affects the gut in the worst way. The worst part is their doctors aren’t using the simple language that you use, so they come back from the doctor and are more flabberghasted and scared than ever. When it comes to supporting others I hope to work with clients that are dealing with adrenal fatigue, underactive thyroid, gut/microbiome, malabsorption of the gut, toxicity, seasonal allergies,… Read more »

Educate your clients to empower them to understand what the body needs & how to get it. That’s like teaching someone how to fish rather than giving them one.

Love your depth of knowledge! Thank you for sharing.

Lab work is just one puzzle piece, not “the” puzzle piece. So important as we open our awareness to see ourselves more holistically. I loved when you said that and even I need to remember that sometimes as I navigate the conventional medical world receive information that might be presented as relevant at the expense of other parts of me.

I really appreciate the information on tracking insulin resistance before it becomes diabetes and the connection between blood sugar and cortisol (high stress).

These pearls are so important- disease doesn’t simply require a pill it requires an overhaul to get to the root cause. So much information related to healing the gut- when can we hear more?!
